Hunger & Thirst

Worship Center

In anticipation of the Christmas season of feasting, this four-week series, Hunger & Thirst, examines the concept of food in relationship to the Christian walk. The Bible teaches us to hunger after the things of God and taste and see that God is good. Through examining key texts, we can see the relationship between physical nourishment and spiritual nourishment. Jesus is the Bread of Life, and we partake with others in Christian community and should be aware of false teaching (fake food) that provide no growth or nourishment.

Just as we grow in what we can eat, we also grow in our walk with God. We go from just milk to solid foods. Beyond the growing from milk to meat, we must also grow into being satisfied with God’s Word and not just special meals that speak about his Word. Trying to eat just the treats—devotionals, Christian self-help, a Jesus bumper sticker—without learning to study the Word will leave us without the nourishment we need to grow.
